Through study, discussion and prayer, the Bible Study Programs help us to deepen our spiritual lives by listening to the voice of God through the words of Scripture. Three sessions are offered: In-person on Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m, and via Zoom on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. All sessions are open to Saint James parishioners, 18 years and older, and to adults from surrounding Catholic parishes. All programs are offered in accord with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.

What is the Catholic Church all about? What does it mean to be Catholic? What do Catholics actually believe? Join the Saint James Bible Study for the Autumn 2024 semester when we'll learn what makes the Catholic Church extraordinary. 

Founded by Christ himself, the Catholic Church is where we encounter God in his Word, his sacraments, and his saints. The Church faithfully proclaims the fullness of faith, leaving no truth out. It proclaims the fullness of life, leaving no person out. It calls all to repent and to believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the source of all life and salvation.

Filmed at beautiful locations in Rome, this 10-week program from Ascension Press is presented in a conversational format by Marcellino D'Ambrosio and Andrew and Sarah Swafford. Each lesson video also includes a special guest speaker who adds a personal perspective on that lesson's theme. Since there is a strong emphasis on Church teaching as found in the Catechism, this study is an excellent sequel to last semester's Church Fathers study.

The study will begin the week of October 1 and conclude the week of December 9, with a break for Thanksgiving (week of November 25). There are four ways to participate: in person or virtually on Tuesday evenings (7:15pm-8:30pm), in person on Thursday mornings (9:00am-10:30am), or independent study (without small group discussion).
