Saints Joachim and Anne Society

CONTACT: Patricia Mowton ♦ (973) 908-766-8365

Founded in the 1970’s by then pastor Father Joseph Wade and Father John Torney of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Bernardsville, the Saints Joachim and Anne Society is open to all senior adults (age 52+) from the towns of the Somerset Hills. John Terry of Basking Ridge was the first president of the Saints Joachim and Anne Society; his widow, Olga, is still a member. The Society is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of its members and meets in the chapel auditorium at 12:30pm on the first Monday after the first Sunday of every month (except July and August). Programs include guest speakers, demonstrations, Bingo, day trips, luncheons, a Spring Auction and the Annual Tea, among other activities and events. Dues are $10 for the year.  Guests are always welcome!

Christian tradition celebrates Saint Joachim and Saint Anne as the grandparents of Jesus and the parents of Mary, His Mother. It is therefore most fitting that the society of parish elders be named in their honor.

Honor thy father and thy mother. — Exodus 20:12

With long life will I satisfy him. — Psalms 91:16
