Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) Basketball

The Saint James Basketball Program is governed and regulated by the Diocese of Metuchen Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) Office.  The basketball program is open to any interested girl or boy in grades 4 through 12 who either attends Saint James School or is a member of Saint James Parish. Fee based registration takes place near the end of September. Teams are formed and coaches are assigned in early October, before the start of practices later in the month. Teams are scheduled to practice twice a week. The Diocese of Metuchen CYM basketball league games are played on Saturday’s beginning on the first weekend in December through the middle of March. Teams travel to other schools and parishes throughout the diocese to play games. The program is designed to encourage Catholic values, teamwork, physical fitness, skill building and good sportsmanship in a competitive setting. It’s also lots of fun.

Saint James CYM Basketball Program is organized and managed by volunteers filling the roles of Basketball Board Members and Coaches. In addition, parents of participating student athletes are actively involved in many activities supporting the program and the operation of the gym.
