Parish Picnic Committee

The Parish Picnic is a yearly event and has typically been on a Sunday afternoon late in September or early October. It is a fun-filled family day of activities and takes place on the grounds of St. James, in the school parking area and the grassy areas surrounding it. All parish families and their friends (non-parish families included) are invited.

Events range from young children's activities: such as an animal show with a clown and moon walk or slide, to middle aged children: with activities such as relay races, basketball shoot-out, soccer and softball games. In addition, teens are encouraged to help out, volunteering their time for these events, and, typically, they participate in the Egg Toss and Pie Eating contests! Additionally, face painting, cotton candy, ice cream and raffles events are held periodically throughout the afternoon. Bingo is another huge favorite among the senior group.

The Knights of Columbus graciously donate their time all afternoon, cooking at the grills.  A food service is manned by additional volunteers. Typically, the menu has been hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers and salads. We ask each family to bring a desert.

Many volunteers are needed to help run this event. Meetings are held a few weeks prior to the date.  If people are not able to attend, but would like to help, contact Sherry Bock at (908) 658-3298 or sbockplus@aol.com .
