St. James Moms & Tots Playgroup
The history of St. James Moms & Tots started when six mothers, who met by chance at local parks, founded the playgroup in 1984. Several were parishioners of St. James and were able to move the playgroup indoors to the church basement. Over the years, the group has grown simply by word of mouth and notices in the church bulletin.
Although Moms & Tots meets in the church basement, we have no formal affiliation with St. James. We are particularly indebted to St. James for their generosity in allowing us to use their facilities. To that end, we hold an annual bake sale, donating the proceeds to the church.
All other activities, including seasonal field trips, holiday parties and local community services, are for the sole benefit of our children. They are the most important part of the group. Run completely by moms and caregivers, St. James Moms & Tots playgroup provides an opportunity for our children, birth to 4 years, to play and interact with others their age. Playgroups are held three times a week during the school year.
