Childrens' Liturgy of the Word Order of Worship

Procession

Teen Assistant and Assistant 1 stand in back of church with banner
Teen walks to Reserved Pews displaying banner
Teen and Assistant 1 lead children from church to chapel

Assistants - Please monitor safety of all children by ensuring they stay in line.  If possible, have one assistant positioned in front of steps leading downstairs of church and another blocking front entrance to Church.

Gathering

As children enter music is playing. Assistants help children sit on altar as close to teachers as possible. Leaders invite parents to return to Mass.

Opening

Welcome/Sign of Cross
Invite children to stand up, face the crucifix and teach them the sign of the cross. Ask them to sit and listen carefully to word of God.

After last song, ask children to sit quietly for a minute in preparation for returning back to the Big church.

Assistant should get banner and stand by door to Church.

Handouts	Assistants distribute handouts as children are seated.
Exit	Give them handout and ask them to stand in line behind the person with the banner. Tell them their parents will meet them in line.
Wrap-up	Assistant should lead children quietly back to church behind banner. (If possible, ensure those without parents are in front of line). Leaders/Assistants put props in Children's Liturgy box.
