Fellowship Coffee Hour

The 2006 RENEW Program, “Reaching Out through Evangelization,” sowed the seeds for the (almost) monthly Fellowship Coffee Hour. Inspired by the words of Saint Matthew in the fourth chapter of his Gospel, “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do unto Me,” one of the RENEW groups agreed to serve coffee and donuts after the Sunday Masses to raise money for the Farm of the Child in Honduras. The bonus of fostering fellowship among the people who attended this fundraiser led Father Glenn to ask the group to host Fellowship Coffee Hour on a regular basis.

The Fellowship Coffee Hour is held several times per year, usually on the fourth Sunday of the month, after the 9:00 a.m. and the 10:30 a.m. Masses, in the chapel auditorium. The Fellowship Team serves coffee, tea, juice, donuts and bagels. A craft suited to the season is offered for younger children.

The purpose of the Fellowship Coffee Hour is to promote camaraderie and extend hospitality to the members of Saint James Church.  It is an ideal opportunity to come together to renew existing relationships and to form new ones. A special invitation is extended to new parishioners who would like to get better acquainted with the Saint James community.

One little boy described his experience at the Fellowship Coffee Hour as “having donuts with God.” While we can’t promise that so special guest will attend every Coffee, we can guarantee that you’ll have a fun time, sharing good fellowship and a Continental Breakfast with the people who make Saint James the special parish that it is. And about that special guest … How would you feel if He did show up and you missed Him? Don’t take any chances! JOIN US!

Volunteers are needed to set up, greet people, serve the food and beverages, assist with the crafts and clean up. This is an excellent way for youth groups to earn service hours!  Confirmation candidates, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and junior high and high school students are welcome to help out.

What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. — 1 John 1: 3,7
