Mr. Luke J. Hally - Deacon |
| Deacon Luke was ordained a Deacon in the Rockville Center Diocese on May 31, 1980; he received his theological training at Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington, Long Island. He served at St. Elizabeth’s parish South Huntington, from May 1980 to February 1983, when he stared serving at St. James, Basking Ridge.
In addition to serving as deacon at Masses, Deacon Luke gives homilies, does baptisms every fourth Sunday, helps run the RCIA program, is involved with the diocese, serves as chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, and has spent the past seventeen years serving on the Diocean Draconate Advisory Board and on the Diaconate Personnel Board. He Has just completed serving as Chairman of the Diaconate Personnel Board during 2003 and 2004, and was Diaconate Director from 1996 to 2000. He is also involved with the Divorced/ Separated and witnesses marriages and performs paraliturgical serving at the request of the pastor. His wife, Maureen, and he have been married for forty three years and raised three daughters (Deirdra, Mary Alice and Tara), all of whom are married; the Hally’s have been blessed with eight grandchildren. Maureen is a registered nurse with a B.S. degree, and is a certified Healing Touch practitioner as well as a certified Occupational Health nurse. Deacon Luke graduated from Augustinian Academy in Staten Island, and has a B.A. degree from Villanova University/ St. John’s University. He did graduate work at NYU (accounting) and Stamford University (engineering). He was a Division Manager at NY Telephone Co., was Senior Vice President of Edward S. Gordon, and a District Manager at Bell Communications Research. He has been retired since December 1992. Deacon Luke was born in Manhattan, raised in Queens, NY and raised his family in Huntington Long Island (18years and Basking ridge). His hobbies include golf and reading. |
